MEET DR. PATRICIA SHAW
I’m Dr. Patricia Shaw, affectionately known as The Marriage Midwife—a Christian Life and Relationship Coach, author, speaker, licensed chaplain, and transformational leader committed to helping women heal deeply, love wisely, and live boldly.
For more than two decades, I have worked with women who were carrying heartbreak, disappointment, grief, uncertainty, and the weight of becoming everything for everybody while quietly wondering, “What about me?”
I help women confront what hurt them, release what no longer serves them, rediscover who they are, strengthen their relationship with God, and move forward with greater confidence, wisdom, and clarity. Because healing is not simply about feeling better—it is about becoming better equipped for where God is taking you next.
MY STORY
I believe some of the most powerful lessons we teach are the ones life first required us to live. I know what it means to love deeply—to build a life, a family, a ministry, and a legacy alongside someone you love. I also know what it means for life to change without asking your permission.
After nearly 37 years of marriage, I experienced the devastating loss of my beloved husband, Administrative Assistant Superintendent Michael D. Shaw Sr. His transition marked the end of one chapter of my life and the beginning of a journey I never asked to take.
Grief taught me that even a strong woman can have moments when she struggles to breathe. Faith taught me that struggling to breathe does not mean you have stopped believing. And God reminded me that loss may change the landscape of your life, but it does not erase the purpose He placed inside of you.
I had to learn how to breathe again. How to dream again. How to hear my own voice again. How to honor what had been while still having the courage to embrace what could still be. Today, when I sit across from a woman who is hurting, questioning, grieving, waiting, or rebuilding, I do not simply see a client. I see a woman standing between what was and what can still be. And that space is sacred to me.

THE INVITATION
your heart has been broken.
you are tired of repeating the same relationship patterns.
you have spent years pouring into everyone else.
you are waiting for marriage and wondering whether the wait will ever end.
life has handed you a loss, transition, or disappointment you never prepared for.
perhaps nothing is necessarily “wrong”—you simply know it is time to grow.
Break. Bloom. Become. That is more than a process. It is an invitation.
Break. Bloom. Become. That is more than a process. It is an invitation.

We confront the pain, limiting beliefs, unhealthy attachments, soul ties, fear, rejection, and patterns that have kept you emotionally bound.
You cannot heal what you refuse to acknowledge.

We rebuild your confidence, identity, boundaries, faith, standards, and voice. You begin to recognize the woman who was there all along.

You stop simply recovering from yesterday and begin intentionally preparing for tomorrow—making healthier decisions and pursuing purpose.
A NAME ROOTED IN PURPOSE
I became known as The Marriage Midwife because I have spent years helping women prepare not merely for a wedding, but for the responsibility of covenant. I believe marriage preparation begins long before a man places a ring on your finger—it begins with the woman in the mirror: your healing, your discernment, your emotional maturity, your relationship with God, your boundaries, your understanding of covenant, and your ability to recognize healthy love.
A woman should not spend her waiting season consumed with being found. She should spend it becoming. Because you are not simply praying for a man. You are preparing for a mantle.
Empowering women means addressing the whole woman. Through coaching, books, courses, workshops, speaking engagements, leadership development, community outreach, and faith-based resources, I help women strengthen their:

Spiritual lives

Emotional wellness

Personal identity

Confidence

Relationship discernment

Leadership abilities

Communication skills

Emotional intelligence

Mindset

Personal and professional development

Host, The Soul of a Woman Speaks Podcast
THE PODCAST
One of the most personal extensions of my work is my podcast, The Soul of a Woman Speaks: Stories of Love, Loss and Lessons Learned—a space where women can have the conversations we often carry silently. We talk about love, loss, marriage, grief, relationships, healing, faith, identity, and purpose.
The podcast was born from my own journey of learning how to breathe again, and my desire to create a place where another woman can hear a story and think, “Maybe I can make it through this too.”

My passion for women extends beyond coaching and speaking. Through Women of Excellence Outreach Services, founded in 2015, I have been committed to initiatives that strengthen women, families, youth, and communities—including personal development, community empowerment, domestic violence awareness, mental wellness, health education, and youth outreach.
If you work with me, I will encourage you. I will pray with you. I will celebrate your progress. But I will also challenge you. I am not interested in helping women become comfortable in cycles God is calling them out of.
Sometimes empowerment sounds like encouragement. Sometimes it sounds like, “Sis, we are not doing that anymore.” Both can be love.
I especially serve Christian women who are ready to:

Heal after heartbreak, betrayal, disappointment, grief, or loss

Break unhealthy emotional and relationship patterns

Establish stronger boundaries

Rebuild confidence

Rediscover their identity

Date with wisdom and discernment

Prepare for healthy, covenant-centered marriage

Stop settling for less than what aligns with their values

Find purpose after painful life transitions

Strengthen their leadership and emotional intelligence

Move from surviving to intentionally living
FAITH & MINISTRY
My faith is not a compartment of my life—it is the foundation beneath it. I believe biblical truth, prayer, wisdom, personal responsibility, and practical action belong together. My desire is not simply to inspire women for a moment, but to help them become spiritually grounded enough to walk boldly into the life God has called them to live.

A PERSONAL WORD FROM DR. PATRICIA
There are seasons in a woman’s life when she has to stop asking, “Why did this happen to me?” and begin asking, “God, who are You calling me to become through this?”
I have learned that some chapters end before we are ready. Some prayers are answered differently than we expected. Some relationships teach us. Some losses reshape us. But this I know: God wastes nothing. Not the tears. Not the waiting. Not the disappointment. Not the lessons. Not even the silence.
So breathe. Heal. Grow. Become. And when you are ready, I would be honored to walk beside you.
